Alumni Spotlight - Anna Zeitlin

We love hearing from former Abintra students and learning where they are now. In the coming weeks we'll be sharing updates from Abintra alumni! Today we're featuring Anna Zeitlin, Abintra class of '01.
"Abintra fueled my curiosity and gave me the drive to pursue my areas of interest."

Anna graduated from Abintra in 2001 and went on to attend Hume-Fogg Academic High School in Nashville. She received her Bachelor's degree from Columbia College Chicago, where she studied film and video. During her college career, Anna also studied abroad, spending time at Dublin City University and Paris American Academy.

You can now find Anna working as an art gallery assistant or designing and making hats for her line Fanny and June. Her handmade hats have been worn on the TV show Nashville, on the runway, and at Steeplechase (Nashville's version of the Kentucky Derby). Anna is also involved in organizing various fashion and art events around Nashville, including the upcoming Fashion Happening Nashville, where she'll be a featured designer.

When asked how her time at Abintra influenced her future experiences, Anna answered that it "fueled my curiosity and gave me the drive to pursue the areas that I'm interested in." She remembers fostering a love of math through materials such as the checkerboard, and connecting classroom lessons to real-life applications. She says, "We learned the Pythagorian theorem through building the roof of a deck and realizing one side needed to be longer than the others." Anna encourages current Abintra students to continue to foster a love of reading inside and outside the classroom by choosing material that aligns with their interests.

You can catch Anna and her hats from Fanny and June at Fashion Happening Nashville on Monday, March 31st.
